The Art of London
I realised I often talk about places I travel to but never my home. It is much harder writing about your city. So, let's think about London for just a moment.
The reason I love London is that you can be anyone you want to be. It sounds so simple. It’s special. It's magical. It's freedom. It's all-inclusive. London is a sprawling multicultural metropolis. Music and madness. Unique food combinations. Artists. You name it's here. And most importantly, it brings love for one another.
On top of all of that, London has a fuck it button. That is why I still live here. I have a fuck it button. Berlin has a fuck it button. So does Amsterdam. Stockholm does not. But London's fuck it button is the biggest fuck it button of all. When I think about all the crazy days and nights I have had in my beautiful city, I know it's the one for me.
I’ve danced all night dressed as a red devil. Had passionate love affairs with guys half my age. Chatted with my newsagent for hours on end about her arranged marriage. I’ve eaten at "Knobu". I’ve also eaten dahl in Govinda's restaurant (linked to the Radha Krishna Temple). I’ve seen two versions of Van Goghs Sunflowers side by side in The National Gallery. Fuck it, I’m on a roll now. I’ve had a chat with Cilla Black in a Chelsea beauty salon about her bikini line. (That's the truth).
London is a place where you can walk down the street dressed as Karl Lagerfeld as no one notices (my friend Soph's words not mine). She did it. They didn't.
So, when it comes to art London's got this. We are the leading European art market and second in the world after the US. We have three hundred thirty-eight art galleries and over 11,500 artists live here.
Here are my five favourite art galleries in London that you might not have heard of:

And, if you want to eat surrounded by beautiful art The Mount Restaurant on Mount St. If that is too fancy, pop into The Audley Public House downstairs and look up at the ceiling. You will be pleasantly surprised.
I sat with a kind Belgian man on a bench in Hauser and Wirth a weeks days ago. He looked at me "This is the best city in the world. I called my children last night to tell them everyone lives together. They mix their love and laugh together. It is wonderful"
So, for a change, let's celebrate London, you wild crazy beast. You are “The fucking GOAT" as my boys would say. And, I am still in love with you after all these years.
And that is just the beginning London.
With love, Jules x
